We’ve lived in our current home (the only home we’ve ever owned) for thirteen years now. Located in South Tulsa and built in 1987, one of the selling points of the house when we bought it was its handsome, wood-paneled office.
We’ve spent a lot of time over the last decade and change in that office, working on the Art of Manliness website and podcast, The Strenuous Life, and now, Dying Breed. Over the years, it’s filled with knickknacks, mementos, and books given to us by friends and family and sent to us by followers of our work.
I thought this week I’d give you a tour of the office and show you around where it is that the magic happens.
Right before you hit the office, I’ve got a print by one of my favorite artists, Mark Maggiori. It’s called “The Horse Whisperer.” One of my dear friends gifted it to me for my 40th birthday. She picked it out for me in part because the guy looks like Gus McCrae from Lonesome Dove. I love those Mark Maggiori clouds. I want some more of his art hanging in my house.
The wall vinyl above the door features the original masthead I designed myself that was featured on the AoM website I designed and coded myself when it first launched in 2008.
Now, enter the sanctum sanctorum.
